Highlights

Highlights let you direct viewers’ attention by dimming the surrounding screen and making key elements pop. Apply a visual spotlight to any area in your recording — perfect for emphasizing steps, features, or critical information.

When you add a highlight, the area outside the highlighted region dims to a lower opacity. The highlighted area stays at full brightness, creating a natural spotlight effect that draws the eye exactly where you want it.

  1. Navigate to the point in the Editor where you want the highlight to begin
  2. Click the + button on the left
  3. Select Add highlight
  4. Position and resize the highlight area over the element you want to emphasize
  • Resize — drag the corners of the highlight area to cover more or less of the screen
  • Reposition — drag the highlight to move it to a different part of the screen
  • Duration — adjust the start and end points in the script to control how long the highlight is visible
  • Multiple highlights — add several highlights at different points in your video
  • Button clicks — spotlight the button before showing the click
  • Form fields — highlight where the user should type
  • Menu items — draw attention to specific menu options
  • Settings panels — emphasize the relevant setting among many options
  • Before/after — highlight the area that changes
  • Combine highlights with Zoom for maximum impact — zoom in and highlight at the same time
  • Keep highlights brief — 2–4 seconds is usually enough
  • Don’t overuse them; too many highlights reduce their effectiveness
  • Use highlights for the most important actions; let zoom handle secondary emphasis
  • Zooming — Complement highlights with zoom effects
  • Blur — Hide sensitive data near highlighted areas
  • Cursor Effects — Enhance cursor visibility
