# Editor Overview

> Your central hub for writing scripts, aligning visuals, and producing polished videos.

Section: Help Center › Overview

The Editor is where you craft your video and audio projects. Instead of a traditional video timeline, you edit a script — and the video updates to match. This guide walks you through each area of the Editor. The numbers match the callouts in the screenshot.

![The Tutorial AI editor with nine numbered callouts: 1 script editor, 2 AI writing tools, 3 script toolbar, 4 video toolbar, 5 video preview, 6 Brand Kit, 7 Video and Document tabs, 8 Sync Marker Rail, 9 Invite and Share](https://www.tutorial.ai/images/help/help-editor-overview-callouts.12a0c14f.webp)

### 1. Script editor

This is where you write and edit your narration script, which replaces the traditional video timeline. Change a word and the voiceover and video timing update to match. [Sync Markers](https://www.tutorial.ai/en/articles/9939395-edit-your-script-and-sync-it-with-the-recording) placed in the text tie words to moments in your recording.

Zooms, [voice tags](https://www.tutorial.ai/en/articles/voice-tags), and slides sit inline in the script, so you edit them right where they happen.

### 2. AI writing tools

The bar at the bottom of the script: **Ask AI**, **Optimize**, **Enhance**, and **Tone** rewrite your narration — polish rough wording, add missing detail, or change the tone. See [Ask AI](https://www.tutorial.ai/docs/voiceover/ask-ai).

### 3. Script toolbar

**Add zoom** adds a [zoom](https://www.tutorial.ai/en/articles/9939459-zooming) to the script, and **Add slide** adds an intro, agenda, outro, or other [slide](https://www.tutorial.ai/docs/editing/slides).

### 4. Video toolbar

The tools above the video preview:

- **Clips** — edit your recording footage ([overview](https://www.tutorial.ai/en/articles/clips-overview)): [cut and trim](https://www.tutorial.ai/en/articles/10396375-cut-trim-video-segments), [split and remove clips](https://www.tutorial.ai/en/articles/split-and-remove-clips), [insert more recordings](https://www.tutorial.ai/en/articles/combine-videos), and [blur](https://www.tutorial.ai/en/articles/11058753-blur-sensitive-data) sensitive data (blur is available on Growth, Team, and Enterprise plans)
- **Background** — [wallpapers, gradients, or solid colors](https://www.tutorial.ai/en/articles/9939429-adjust-video-background), plus padding, rounded corners, and shadow
- **Cursor** — [cursor size and movement](https://www.tutorial.ai/en/articles/9939439-mouse-size-and-movement)
- **Music** — [background music](https://www.tutorial.ai/en/articles/12588201-background-music)
- **Highlight** — [dim everything except the area viewers should focus on](https://www.tutorial.ai/en/articles/highlights) (Growth, Team, and Enterprise plans)
- **Caption** — [captions](https://www.tutorial.ai/en/articles/12521199-captions-closed-vs-open) for your video

### 5. Video preview

A live preview of the finished video. Press play at any time to see your latest edits, including everything you set from the video toolbar.

Right-click the preview for shortcuts to the current frame:

![The right-click menu on the video preview with Add highlight, Add blur, Add zoom, Copy frame, Download frame, Source size 2712 × 1612, Edit clip, and Add sync marker](https://www.tutorial.ai/images/help/help-editor-overview-preview-menu.0aa4b167.webp)

- **Add highlight**, **Add blur**, **Add zoom** — add a [highlight](https://www.tutorial.ai/en/articles/highlights), [blur](https://www.tutorial.ai/en/articles/11058753-blur-sensitive-data), or [zoom](https://www.tutorial.ai/en/articles/9939459-zooming) at this point. Highlight and blur are available on Growth, Team, and Enterprise plans.
- **Copy frame** — copy the frame to your clipboard.
- **Download frame** — save the frame as an image, for example as a [cover image](https://www.tutorial.ai/en/articles/13345553-how-to-download-a-cover-image-thumbnail-from-your-video).
- **Source size** — the original recording's size in pixels. Match it when you record footage to [replace a clip](https://www.tutorial.ai/en/articles/update-or-replace-part-of-a-recording#replacing-a-clips-footage).
- **Edit clip** — open this clip in [Clips](https://www.tutorial.ai/en/articles/clips-overview).
- **Add sync marker** — add a [custom Sync Marker](https://www.tutorial.ai/en/articles/13398528-creating-custom-sync-markers) at this point.

On a slide, the menu only offers **Copy frame**, **Download frame**, **Source size**, and **Edit clip**.

### 6. Brand Kit

The **Brand** button next to the project title applies your [Brand Kit](https://www.tutorial.ai/en/articles/12434137-brand-kits) — logo, colors, and fonts. Brand Kits are available on the Team and Enterprise plans.

### 7. Video / Document

Switch between the video and the [written document](https://www.tutorial.ai/en/articles/14323571-generate-documentation-from-your-video) generated from the same recording.

### 8. Sync Marker Rail

The spine on the left edge of the script. Open it to navigate through the key scenes of your recording, similar to slides in a presentation. [Sync Markers](https://www.tutorial.ai/en/articles/9939395-edit-your-script-and-sync-it-with-the-recording) are created automatically when you click on items while recording with the Desktop App, and you align the video with your script by dragging them into the script.

> You only need the rail if you prefer to type your own script rather than using AI transcription or an AI-generated script. To open it, click the spine on the left edge of the script — see [Creating Custom Sync Markers](https://www.tutorial.ai/en/articles/13398528-creating-custom-sync-markers).

### 9. Invite & Share

**Invite** gives workspace members and collaborators access to the project. **Share** is where you generate the final video, then publish it as a link or embed, or export it — see [Export & Publish video](https://www.tutorial.ai/en/articles/9939509-export-publish-video). The project name sits at the left of the same bar.
