# What Your AI Assistant Can Do

> Everything a connected AI assistant can do in Tutorial AI, example requests for each, what it can't do, and how it keeps you in control.

Section: Docs › AI assistants (MCP)

Once your assistant is [connected](https://www.tutorial.ai/docs/ai-assistants/connect), ask for what you want in plain language. Your assistant chooses the right Tutorial AI action.

> **Tip:** AI assistant connections are available on all paid plans.

Your assistant works **as you**. It reaches only the workspaces and projects you can reach, with the same role and permissions you have in Tutorial AI.

## What you can ask for

| Area | What your assistant can do | Try asking |
|---|---|---|
| **Browse** | List workspaces, folders, projects, screen recordings, voices, and media. Answer "how many" questions. | *How many of my projects are published?* |
| **Read a project** | Summarise its sections, settings, publication status, and share link. | *Give me an overview of Onboarding walkthrough.* |
| **Scripts** | Read the full narration and rewrite it: tighten, fix grammar, adapt for an audience, or make a custom edit. Zooms, highlights, slides, and other markers stay in place. | *Rewrite the script of Onboarding walkthrough for new admins.* |
| **Slides** | Read and edit a slide's text, layout, and images or videos. Add a slide, copy one from another project in the same workspace, or delete one. | *Add a summary slide at the end of Onboarding walkthrough.* |
| **Media for slides** | Place images or videos that are already in your workspace on a slide. | *Put our logo from the asset library on the title slide.* |
| **Project settings** | Change the title, the language, whether the document shows on the share page, and the narration voice. | *Switch Onboarding walkthrough to a British English voice.* |
| **Organize** | Duplicate a project, or move it to another workspace or folder. | *Move Onboarding walkthrough to the Customer Success folder.* |
| **Recordings** | Create a project from a screen recording, or insert a recording into an existing project. The script is written automatically. | *Make a new project from my latest recording of the billing page.* |
| **Translate** | Translate a project into one or more languages. A new language creates a translated project; an existing one is re-translated. | *Translate Onboarding walkthrough into German and French.* |
| **Comments** | Read threads, reply, start a thread, and edit or delete your own comments. Collaborators are notified according to their notification settings. | *What feedback is open on Onboarding walkthrough?* |
| **Project document** | Read the project's written document, have AI draft a new one, and save a version you've approved. | *Draft a help-center article from Onboarding walkthrough.* |
| **Render and publish** | Generate the video (1920×1080, 30 fps by default), publish a finished version, or unpublish the public video. | *Generate Onboarding walkthrough and publish it when it's done.* |

## Guided prompts

Some assistants show ready-made prompts from connected apps — in a menu, as slash commands, or not at all, depending on the assistant. Tutorial AI offers two:

- **`rewrite-script`** — rewrite a project's narration. Choose `tighten`, `grammar`, `audience`, or `custom`; the last two ask you to describe what you want. See [Rewrite Scripts](https://www.tutorial.ai/docs/ai-assistants/rewrite-scripts).
- **`edit-slide`** — edit one slide, with a preview before anything is saved. See [Edit Slides](https://www.tutorial.ai/docs/ai-assistants/edit-slides).

You don't need them. A plain request works just as well.

## What your assistant can't do

- Record videos, or delete videos or recordings
- Invite users or change who's in a workspace
- Change your billing or plan
- Change slides through a script rewrite — slide changes go through slide editing
- Reach anything your own role doesn't allow

## How it keeps you in control

Your assistant is instructed to:

- **Ask before it changes anything**, and use exactly the values you approved — the title, languages, voice, or destination folder.
- **Show a preview first** before it edits, adds, or deletes a slide, and before it saves a document.
- **Ask you to confirm** before it deletes a comment thread, publishes a specific version, or unpublishes a video.
- **Ask you to pick a recording by name.** It never chooses one on its own, even when there's only one.
- **Copy or move a project only when you ask.**

When a slide is deleted, its images and videos stay in your workspace.

> **Caution:** Don't edit a project in Tutorial AI while your assistant is changing it. If you both save the same script, the later save wins.

## Usage and quotas

- **Generating a video** uses your workspace's video generation quota, exactly as it does in the app.
- **Translating** uses your workspace's one-click translation allowance and may use AI credits.
- **Creating a project from a recording** or **inserting a recording** doesn't currently use AI credits.
- **Script rewrites** are written by your own assistant. Tutorial AI doesn't run a separate AI model for them.

## Next steps

  - [Rewrite Scripts](https://www.tutorial.ai/docs/ai-assistants/rewrite-scripts): Tighten, fix, or adapt narration
  - [Edit Slides](https://www.tutorial.ai/docs/ai-assistants/edit-slides): Change, add, and reuse slides with a preview first
  - [Manage Connected Apps](https://www.tutorial.ai/docs/ai-assistants/connected-apps): Check access and revoke it
